How to Select the Best Roof and Siding Color Combination

The siding and roof are usually the most prominent parts of a home exterior. That said, the colors you choose for your roof and siding can have a significant impact on your home’s curb appeal. In today’s post, trusted siding and roofing contractor American Roofing & Construction, LLC shares some tips on selecting the best color combination for your roof and siding.

For New Roofs and New Siding

If you are replacing both your roof and siding, it’s best to create a color palette first. This will allow you to narrow down your color options and ensure the shades match each other. To help you get a good idea of how the colors look when paired up, you can use the color visualizers that roofing and siding manufacturers have provided on their websites. Of course, it’s still best to see color samples in person and to test them out in the light that they’ll be exposed to. But color visualizers make it more convenient to check different color combinations.

For New Roofing

If you’re planning for roof replacement only and you have no plans of changing your siding anytime soon, you might want to stick with basic shades for your new roof. For shingles, brown, gray, red and black are often the most popular colors. Make sure to ask for samples that you can take home. This way, you can see for yourself what the shingles would look like next to your existing siding.

For New Siding

If you are in the process of replacing your siding only, the rule of thumb is to pair warm-colored roofing with warm-colored siding. And if your roof has a cool color, your siding should also have a cool color. For example, rusty tan or brick red roofs go well with beige, brown or tan siding.
