Can Your Siding Be Replaced One Board at a Time?

So you have a damaged section of siding on your home and are not quite sure whether or not you have to re-side the entire thing. You may have been putting off calling your siding and roofing company because you simply do not have enough cash for a full-scale re-siding project.

But you have to understand, even small punctures or cracks on a couple of panels can lead to much larger problems later on if left alone. In today’s post, American Roofing & Construction, LLC explains whether or not you can replace only the damaged areas or if you need to prepare yourself for a complete re-siding job.

Can I Replace Only The Damaged Portions?

Damage to siding is quite common. After all, they are exposed to the elements 365 days a year. Sometimes a branch can puncture a single board or panel after a bad storm or one of the neighbor kids throws an errant baseball leading to a dent or crack. The good news is, a single panel can be replaced without having to call in a professional siding and roof repair contractor.

Vinyl, which is the most common type of siding material in use today, is also the most brittle and prone to damage. Luckily, they are easily replaced. The same goes for wood, aluminum, fiber cement and most other types of siding.

However, there are some instances where replacing a few boards may not be such a good idea especially if you are worried about your home’s curb appeal. A brand-new panel will not be as weathered as your existing siding and there may be some color-matching issues. For this reason, many homeowners opt to re-side an entire portion of their home especially if there are more than one a few damaged boards.
